2007 hyundai accent review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Sporty new coupes join subcompact line of sedans. introductionhyundai vehicles have been dramatically improved over the past few years. The hyundai accent sedan was redesigned for 2006, and this past spring an attractive coupe joined the lineup, adding style, sophistication, and content than ever before.  while the sedan brings some suave to the entry-level family segment, the coupe is clearly seeking street cred, offering hip accessories ranging from a strut-tower brace to faux carbon-fiber trim. Think of it as inexpensive canvas for the fast & furious.  this latest generation of accents is built on a more substantial platform. They are slightly larger and are notably better cars than the previous generation. Hyundai is clearly moving up-market, and the accent is a viable alternative to the recently introduced toyota yaris, honda fit, and nissan versa subcompacts.  power comes from a clean and sophisticated 1. 6-liter double overhead-cam engine, featuring variable valve timing and delivering more power than the chevrolet aveo or scion xa. The environmentally friendly accent is an ultra low emission vehicle, or ulev, and rates 37 mpg on the epa highway scale.  what's more, accent delivers a generous list of safety features. Six airbags (front, seat-mounted side-impact, and side-curtain) are standard on all models; antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution are optional on the sedan and standard on the sporty se coupe. A generous five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty with roadside assistance and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty make the accent a good deal for anyone who does not want to buy a used car and intends to keep the vehicle for an extended period of time. lineupfor 2007, the hyundai accent is available in two body styles and three levels of trim. A premium package 1,750) combines the preferred package with power windows, power heated body-color mirrors, power door locks with remote keyless entry, body-color door handles, and an alarm with panic feature.  the gls sedan 12,565) makes air conditioning and the 172-watt stereo standard, along with illuminated vanity mirrors; and rides on 185/65hr14 tires on 14-inch steel wheels. The sedan's premium package 950) adds anti-lock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution, power windows with driver's express-down, power mirrors, power door locks, remote keyless entry, and an alarm with panic alert. The premium sport package 1,350) combines all of the above with 195/55vr15 tires on 15-inch aluminum wheels.  the se coupe 13,915) comes with a sport-tuned suspension, abs with ebd, and p205/45vr16 tires on five-spoke aluminum wheels. The se also comes with all premium package features, plus fog lights, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, metallic interior accents, express-down for the driver's-side window, seat-back pockets, front door bottle holders, illuminated vanity mirrors, and windshield shade band. It starts at the front with integrated 5-mph bumpers and large aerodynamic headlight enclosures that wrap around the front fenders. It has a high roofline defined on either side by black rubber rain gutters, while the windshield blends into the front of the roof without any visible trim. A bold character line originates just behind the front wheel opening and slashes boldly across the doors, fading again just short of the taillights.  the back of the sedan roof sweeps toward the trailing edge of the trunk lid, giving it almost a coupe-like appearance. Unlike many modern cars, accent has a generous greenhouse with big windows; blacked-out trim both defines and unifies the side-window opening. This, coupled with a long wheelbase with relatively short overhangs, makes the sedan appear a tad bigger than it actually is.  overall, the accent has a pretty, if somewhat ordinary look to it that should not offend anyone. As part of hyundai's plan, the accent sedan is more buttoned-down conservative than the bolder kia rio, with which it shares its basic construction. We see a hint of volvo in its nose and maybe a dash of honda in its rear three-quarter view.  the accent coupe has a look all its own, though it shares its front fenders and defining character line with the sedan. The differences begin with the bolder two-slot air opening that replaces the sedan's fine-lined horizontal grille and ends with a rounded tail that takes the tentative reverse curve at the base of the sedan's roof, boldly widens it, and fuses it with the horizontally curving quarter panel. The two-door accent is unashamedly a hatchback, and makes no pretense to a separate trunk lid.  not surprisingly, then, the coupe is as tall and wide as the sedan, and shares the sedan's 98. 4-inch wheelbase, but at 159. 3 inches overall it has shed a significant 9. 2 inches of rear overhang. The result is one of the cutest little rears we've seen anywhere lately, and a short, sassy profile that looks like it should cost more than it does.  on both coupe and sedan, a roof-mounted micro-antenna is aerodynamic, flexible, and said to improve signal strength. interiorperhaps more than anything it's the interior of the hyundai accent that has been improved over the pre-2006 models. For starters, there's a much better view out. The hip point in the driver's seat is two inches higher than in older accents, giving the driver a better view of the road. The accent cabin has a conservative two-tone interior color scheme reminiscent of larger cars, and it's trimmed out quite nicely, helping it avoid the feeling of an econobox.  the dashboard wraps around to the door panels and the center stack is nicely integrated, with large, well positioned climate control knobs. Among them: dampened grab handles, a thick roof lining, center folding front and rear armrests, a tilt steering wheel, a micro roof-mounted antenna, driver and passenger side-illuminated vanity mirrors, cabin air filtration, remote trunk and fuel cap releases, and a windshield shade band. There are decent size pockets with a cup holder in each door. In addition there are other storage places and a big glovebox.  the rear seat splits 60/40 for additional storage capacity. For better rearward visibility, the three rear-seat headrests slide down shingle-style into the seatback when not needed. A fold out center armrest with two cupholders is provided for rear-seat passengers.  rear-seat leg room and headroom is not too bad unless the car is full of six-footers. Getting into the back seats is made easier by locating the rear wheels farther back, so the wheelwell does not intrude into the sedan's door opening as much.  compared to the sedan, the coupe surrenders less than a half inch of hip room up front, and less than an inch in the rear; otherwise its passenger-comfort dimensions are identical to those of the sedan. Both models qualify as compact cars by government interior-volume standards, while the competing toyota yaris and scion xa are classified as subcompacts.  trunk volume in the sedan is a very respectable 12. 4 cubic feet. Despite its shorter length, the hatchback coupe expands this to 15. 9 cubic feet with the rear seats in place. We have not had a chance to check out an a.

One owner automobile, barely been kissed. With such an abundance of passenger space, the sky's the limit. Well change up things with this great 2007 hyundai elantra. This car is an amazingly fuel efficient hyundai. New car test drive said, ... The styling holds its own in the class; it looks very clean but doesn't try to draw attention to itself. The seats are comfortable, the brakes are excellent, and cornering capability is good, making it enjoyable to drive... Power and associates gave the 2007 elantra 4 out of 5 power circles for overall dependability. Tachometer✔ Power Windows✔ Power Locks✔ Bucket Seats

2007 hyundai santa fe review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. All-new crossover suv suited for the suburbs. introductionhyundai is on a roll. Its vehicles are proving to have the reliability and quality people expect from japanese cars. The hyundai santa fe is all-new for 2007 and early indications are that it could be a true alternative to the toyota highlander.  the santa fe is a so-called crossover suv, meaning it's built like a car, using unibody construction instead of the body-on-frame construction of a traditional truck. It's a practical vehicle for everyday use.  completely redesigned, the new 2007 hyundai santa fe is attractive. It blends into the suburbs nicely, shedding the quirky looks of last year's model. The new santa fe is smooth and quiet and handles well on winding, paved roads. Yet it retains hyundai's value quotient. lineupthe 2007 hyundai santa fe comes in three trim levels: gls, se, and limited. All-wheel-drive is offered as an option 2,000) on all models. Active safety features include antilock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system.  the gls 20,945) is powered by a 185-hp 2. 7-liter v6 engine. It comes standard with cloth upholstery, a five-speed manual gearbox. The gls is well equipped with air conditioning, a tilt and telescoping steering wheel, 112-watt am/fm/cd/mp3 audio system with six speakers, rocker panel moldings, heated power side mirrors, power windows, power door locks, remote keyless entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, and a roof rack with rails.  the se 23,645) has a more powerful, 242-hp 3. 3-liter v6 with a five-speed automatic transmission with shiftronic and 18-inch alloy wheels. In addition to the equipment found on the gls, the se adds electrochromic auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass, front fog lights and steering wheel audio controls. An optional premium package 1,600) adds a power driver seat with power lumbar support, a power tilt/slide glass sunroof, heated front seats and homelink. The ultimate package 3,850) includes the premium package features, plus a rear-seat entertainment system with an eight-inch lcd monitor, 252-watt am/fm/cd-changer/mp3 audio system with seven speakers (including subwoofer) and external amplifier, and a 115-volt power outlet in the rear cargo area.  the limited 25,945) adds leather seating surfaces, heated front seats, power driver seat with power lumbar support, dual zone automatic temperature control with outside temperature display and homelink. A chrome grille and exterior door handles, as well as a body color hatch spoiler, distinguish the limited. The ultimate package 3,550) includes a sunroof, rear-seat entertainment system with an eight-inch lcd monitor, a 605-watt infinity logic 7 surround sound am/fm/cd-changer/mp3 audio system with 10 speakers (including subwoofer) and external amplifier, 115-volt power outlet and power front passenger seat.  xm satellite radio and a navigation system will be available on later models.  the santa fe includes hyundai's bumper-to-bumper warranty of five years/60,000 miles and a powertrain warranty of 10 years/100,000 miles. walkaroundcompared to the previous-generation model (2006 and earlier), which was polarizing with its curvy lines, the new hyundai santa fe blends in with other suvs in its segment.  hyundai says the new santa fe evokes the assertive grace of a speed skater with a relatively long wheelbase and short overhangs. Some would say it looks like a smaller version of the volkswagen touareg, which is not a bad comparison.  the most noticeable attribute of the santa fe's front is the complete absence of a bumper. Instead the front valence curves around from beneath the body to encompass the large grille and wrap around headlights. The hood slopes up toward the raked windshield and the wedge shape continues along the lower edges of the side windows that sweep up dramatically toward the tailgate.  even the rear has distinctively curved lines with high mounted taillight clusters that are partially mounted on the main body and the tailgate. The easy to see and easy to grab tailgate handle is definitely a santa fe design cue.  although the new santa fe is slightly larger than the previous model, it looks smaller because its styling is more refined and it looks less like a truck. interiorpleasing is the best way to describe the interior of the hyundai santa fe as it features modern plastics with a soft touch feel. All models include blue accent lighting at night to illuminate the instruments, switches and the edges of the front cupholders. Even the base gls has nice luxury touches that include realistic looking, but fake wood-trim accents across the width of the dashboard, surrounding the shifter and along the door panels.  the gauges are mounted in a large instrument pod in front of the steering wheel. The radio and climate controls are well located in a center stack that is mounted high in the dashboard for easy reach and observation while driving.  according to hyundai's measurements, the headroom and legroom is greater in all rows than in competing models thanks to a uniquely designed unibody that is not based off an existing car platform, thus allowing the engineers to maximize interior space without compromise.  with the optional third row of seats folded down there is a generous 34. 2 cubic feet of storage space on an almost flat floor. Fold down the middle row of seats and there is 79. 3 cubic feet of storage space. Although the santa fe is one of smallest midsize suvs in exterior dimensions it is far from being the smallest inside, a tribute to its space-efficient design.  the air vents for the center row of seats are mounted in the b-pillar, which is much more effective than being mounted down low behind the center console, as in many vehicles.  we did not get to try a model with the third row of seats. Additionally, one loses the very practical hidden storage space under the rear floor when the vehicle is fitted with the optional third row of seats. driving impressionnobody can really expect an suv, even one built using a stiff unibody, to handle as well as a sedan. However the new hyundai santa fe comes mighty close. The steering has a pleasant feel, neither too tight nor too loose, the brakes work well if not dramatically, the ride is smooth and the vehicle is quiet.  the gls comes with the smaller of two available v6 engines and is available with a manual transmission, which is a unique combination in the u. We haven't had a chance to check it out and hyundai admits few people will buy one, but a manual transmission is available for drivers who want one.  we briefly drove a santa fe with all-wheel drive and on dry pavement it did not feel any different from the front-drive model. All-wheel drive is designed to improve handling stability and traction on slippery surfaces.  all santa fe models include electronic stability control with traction control.  the best value may be the front-drive se model, which has the same high-tech aluminum engine and transmission as the limited. summarythe hyundai santa fe is the same size as the toyota highlander, but it costs less. Judging from hyundai's performance in j. Power and associates quality studies, hyundai's vehicles are right in there in terms of quality and reliability as well. The santa fe is a so-called crossover suv, meaning it's built like a car, using unibody construction instead of the body-on-frame construction of a traditional truck. It's a practical vehicle for everyday use. It comes in three trim levels: gls, se, and limited. All-wheel-drive is offered as an option on all models. Safety features that come standard on all models include dual front airbags, front seat side-impact airbags, side curtain airbags and active front head restraints. Active safety features include antilock brakes, electronic stability control, traction control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. For 2007, the hyundai santa. 2007 hyundai azera review this car review is specific to this model, not the actual vehicle for sale. Nameplate-plush at chain-store prices. introductionremarkable for both its ambition and its achievement, azera is hyundai's entry into the full-size, near-luxury segment. Azera is a worthy alternative to the toyota avalon and nissan maxima. Introduced just last year as a 2006 model, azera has already out-scored the highly regarded toyota avalon to earn second place in the segment in j. Power and associate's 2006 initial quality study. It was also rated the most appealing large car in j. The 3. 8-liter v6 engine features variable valve timing for low emissions and a broad power curve, while the five-speed automatic gives the driver the option of shifting semi-manually, competitive features with lexus, infiniti and acura. While there's nothing especially striking in azera's design or styling, take off the hyundai badge, and it could pass as family among any of the top-rated japanese nameplates.  inside, fit and finish set a new standard for the marque, with quality materials and assembly. There's a quiet elegance in the simplicity of the instruments, usability of the controls and sleekness of design. What isn't readily visible received the same attention as what is, with hardware studiously hidden away and storage bins fully finished. All is not perfection. Some of the faux leather feels more like vinyl than bovine. But the overall presentation is upscale.  at a more practical level, the azera equals or betters the competition in standard equipment, with special emphasis on safety. Eight airbags are standard, as are electronic stability control, traction control, antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and active front seat head restraints. Rain-sensing windshield wipers, more commonly found only on high-end cars, are available.  changes for 2007 are minimal. Steering wheel audio controls with seek up/down are now standard on all models. Azera limited models now come with an enhanced electroluminescent instrument cluster. Sideview mirrors with integral turn-signal indicators are now included in the ultimate package. And black leather interiors are now accented with light gray stitching. lineupthe 2007 hyundai azera comes in two models: the se 24,535) and the limited 27,135). Both are powered by a 3. 8-liter v6 rated at 263 horsepower. The se premium package 1,800) adds a power tilt-and-slide sunroof; premium stereo with in-dash, 6cd changer; and heated front seats. Dealer-installed accessories include floor mats 85); wheel locks 40); sunroof wind deflector 85); trunk floor mat 90); and composite cargo tray 90).  the limited steps up with leather-trimmed seats (heated in front), woodgrain and leather-wrapped steering wheel, powered rear sunshade, 17-inch wheels and michelin tires. The limited premium package 1550) adds the power sunroof and premium stereo. All five seating positions have adjustable head restraints and three-point belts; the front seatbelts have pre-tensioners and height-adjustable shoulder loops. Active safety features for crash avoidance include antilock brakes (abs) with electronic brake-force distribution (ebd), electronic stability control and traction control. walkaroundhyundai's stylists may have started out copying more than creating, but they're ever so persistently breaking out of that mode. While there may be nothing strikingly new nor original about the azera's looks, there's nevertheless a completeness, a proportional flow that both catches and pleases the eye.  the front styling of the azera resembles that of the smaller sonata but with the comfortable filling out that can come with healthy aging; not quite stately, but definitely wiser. The headlights are familiar, as is the shape of the grille, although the latter is textured on the azera with fine horizontal lines, rather than the sonata's single bold slash. Similarly, azera's lower air intake is gently split horizontally, and its bumper subtly detailed with thin, bright-finish bump strips at each corner.  the side view reaches for elegance, with gracefully arced, micro-bulged fenders and a glasshouse that rises softly from the bonnet, flows smoothly over an elongated cabin and falls gently into the boot. The rear overhang extends a bit farther than the shorter front overhang, but wide doors and spacious windows temper this relatively minor discord. The trunk lid seems to sit atop the rear fenders, inviting unfortunate comparison with the awkward back end of the current bmw 7 series, but some designers are saying that's a necessary aerodynamic solution, and we're seeing the same sort of thing on the newest models from lexus and acura.  the azera's back end is equally reminiscent of the sonata, again albeit fuller, more mature. Sonata-like shapes outline the lighting arrangements and license plate. A unique reflector strip reaching across the trunk lid doubles as a background for the only external display of the name, azera. A bright strip along the top of the bumper finishes the loop started at the front and carried along the side. The upholstery, the dash covering, the carpet, are all top notch. Even the fabric headliner is a cut above the standard mouse fur. Gaps between the bits and pieces of plastic and other materials are impressively tight, earning high marks for fit and finish. The glove box and storage cubbies are of good quality. All hinged fixtures, from glove box door to roof-mounted grab handles, are damped for smooth, quiet operation.  the dash sweeps gracefully across the car, beginning and ending in sectioned caps molded into the front door panels, and beneath an odd, table-edge-like flat rim that circles the entire interior from the outboard edges of the rear seats. Vent registers are symmetrically positioned near the doors and on each side of the audio and climate control panels centered above a large storage bin. Intuitively proportioned tachometer, speedometer, fuel level and engine coolant gauges peer out from a hooded pod through the top half of the steering wheel. Large, friendly knobs, buttons and switches return a pleasant tactile feel.  the center console is trimmed in natural-looking woodgrain and brushed aluminum. Up front, almost tucked up underneath the dash overhang, is a covered ashtray with lighter. Aft of this is a small cubby, with controls for the seat heaters. Driver and front passenger have access to a pair of cup holders that hide beneath a hinged cover at the forward end of the console. The top of the bi-level console and storage bin is padded.  the shift lever travels through a gated slot that puts the secondary, sportronic gear selector slot on the opposite side of the gate from the driver. We prefer it on the driver's side.  map pockets in each door are provided, part of which flip out to expand. The backsides of the front seats wear magazine pouches. Back seat passengers get a fold-down center armrest with two cup holders and, overhead, reading lights.  the seats, front and rear, are comfortable and supportive. Front seat bases are fully enclosed so hardware isn't exposed. The driver's seat power lumbar covers an impressive range. Front seats give more and better thigh support than the rears, but the copious rear seat leg room more than compensates, helped by the rear doors' remarkably wide openings.  visibility is good all around, with special credit to the view out the back. The adjustable rear head restraints are the shingle type, which are formed to fit down over the top of the seatback when retracted. The electro-chromatic rearview mirror comes with an off switch, for the compass, too, and when that's turned off, the window in which it appears fades into the mirror. And shift into reverse with the limited's rear sunshade deployed, and it automatically retracts.  the azera is roomy. Dimension-for-dimension against the competition, hyundai azera generally prevails, besting the 2007 nissan maxima, buick lacrosse and mercury milan in nearly all measures (maxima has a quarter-inch more leg room in front); and even the larger buick lucerne and mercury montego in all but rear leg room.
